COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course students will study the history of the United States from the age of exploration and colonization to the end of Reconstruction in 1877. This course allows students to take a closer look at a particular segment of history. Students will examine the full scope of Early American history including the American Revolution and writing of the Constitution, the early Republic and the Age of Jackson, Westward Expansion, and the rise of sectionalism before the course culminates with the Civil War and Reconstruction.

Today students will begin a review the first sections of Topic 6 in the textbook on pages 347-258. The class will analyze the political cartoon on page 354 and will discuss the question: How is Jackson trying to destroy the bank? The class will also discuss the image on page 355. Afterwards, the class will participate in a discussion of the Vocabulary Practice on page 144 of the Active Journal. Students will begin to prepare for their upcoming tests.

Today students will review the last section of Topic 6 beginning on page 360. The class will complete Get Ready to Read on page 360. The class will prepare personal study notes in the Active Journals using the graphic organizer, concept web on page 145. Students will discuss pages 361-366 and analyze the bar chart on page 364 and the map on page 365. Students will prepare for their upcoming tests.
