Course Description
 
Mississippi Studies is designed to foster appreciation for the state, its history, and its culture. The content will include the geographic, historic, economic, political, and social events that have contributed to the state‘s development. The course traces Mississippi‘s economic transition from agriculture to industry and its effort to expand participation of all its citizens in the political process. The course includes the study of the diverse contributions of the citizens of the state.
 
I teach Mississippi Studies/ Introduction to Geography 1st and 4th periods.

Week 2: Third Nine Weeks
 
1/19/21-1/22/21
Tuesday: Students will cover chapter 8, section 3 today in class.  Students will be given a vocabulary review worksheet to complete after the lecture that may be finished for homework if not completed in class.  Students must also complete reviewing the Section questions on page 233.  Students also continue working on the Amendment Project that is due on Monday, Jan 25th.
 
Wednesday: Students will have an in class article to read on the Great Migration, as well as a section in their textbook.  Students will have an assignment to complete after finishing the readings.  Students will also have an activity on the Jim Crow laws that were passed during this time of history.  Students may finish both of these assignments for homework if they are not completed in class.  Students must also answer the 2 Developing Critical Thinking questions on page 235.
 
Thursday: Students will complete a vocabulary test on Chapter 8. Students will review the three Reading Guides in preparation for a Chapter 8 test which will be given on Monday. 
 
Friday: Students will have in-class time to work on their Amendment projects and will also prepare for their upcoming test on Monday.  Students will review vocabulary test grades.
