Description
Cyber Foundations I (CF I) is an instructional program that prepares individuals to effectively use technology in learning, communication, and life skills.  Students will learn applications such as google docs, google sheets, financial literacy, digital citizenship, HTML coding and many other fun and interesting things about computers. Students are completely hands on for this course and will complete many activities, as well as be tested on material such as vocab words and usage of the applications.

Week 9, 4th Nine Weeks

Monday: Students will review for their final Code Vocabulary test on Tuesday, as well as their final typing test. They will use the remainder of the class period to work on their personal websites.  They will be given a list of guidelines and requirements for their final website which will be a test grade.

Tuesday: Students will take a final Code Vocab test and a final timed typing test today.  After completing both of these tests students will work on their final website projects.

Wednesday: Students will have a final journal check today for journals 31-39 and spend the entire class period today working on their final websites.  Websites will be due on Thursday!

Thursday: Final websites are due today!  Students may use this class period to finish websites as the teacher comes around and grades websites.

Friday: Students will take their final 9 weeks’ test grade today, a comprehensive timed typing test that will count as their 9 weeks’ test grade for those students that are not exempt.  Awards Day is also today!!  Exempt students do not have to come back!

Week 8, 4th Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be working towards finishing our personal webpages. Students will continue to work in Code.org on uploading images and adding more content to their webpages. Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will work in Bubble 6 where they will complete bubbles A-F to practice more with images and adding pictures correctly.  Students will continue to work in bubbles 7 and 8 to complete all the assessments and challenges listed there.  They will learn about height and weight distributions for images, how to make an illustrated story, and how to make a how- to guide.  If the students complete all assignments on these bubbles, they may work on their individual websites to ensure they have met all the requirements for their websites thus far. 
Tuesday: Today students will log into code.org, Lesson 11, Bubble 1 where they will look at some of the sample websites listed on the page. Students will discuss some of the new and different styling techniques located on the pages. As the students continue to Lesson 11 bubble 2 they will take out their journals and complete Journal Entry #39. For this journal, students will take down the following vocabulary words: body selector, border style property, border radius property, and the float property. Students will then read the directions on this bubble and learn how to properly code and style web pages to show these effects.
Wednesday: Students will log onto their Code.org website today where they will begin on Lesson 11, Bubble 3. They will begin applying the new concepts and new styles to the web pages and learning how to properly code each page. Students will continue to bubbles 4 and 5 and complete the directions there as well. When the students reach bubble 6, they will add the following words and definitions to their journal entry #39: width property and height property. After adding these words to their vocabulary, they will complete the directions in bubble 6, bubble 7 (a-f), and bubble 8.
Thursday: No assignments today as the students will be on a field trip today!!
Friday: Today students will continue to work in Code.org where they will begin on Lesson 11, Bubble 9. Here students will learn a few more types of style to add to their own personal webpages. Again students will take out their journals and take down the following term and definition for their final Code vocabulary test next week: margins. After taking down the term, students will complete Bubble 9 (a-f) to complete their code and style lessons. After completing bubble 9, the students may use the remainder of the class period to work on their personal websites. Students will also be given a homework worksheet for tonight, a matching sheet of the Code Vocab 2 they will be tested on next week. Homework is due on Monday.

Week 7, 4th Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations the students will continue to work on thier own personal webpages. Students have created a webpage, all the content, coded the page, and added style to it thus far. Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will log back into Code.org today and continue working on their personal websites. Students will ensure that their webpages have 1. Content, 2. Structure, and 3. Style. If students complete their webpages, and have been checked by the teacher to ensure that all components are present, they may use the remainder of the class period to work on their worksheets to help prepare them for the ELA State Assessment which they will be taking tomorrow, Eureka, Context Clues, Helen Keller, Little Women, and Vocab. 
Tuesday: No assignments today as the students will be taking the ELA State Assessment. 
Wednesday: Students will continue to work in Code.org today by logging into Lesson 8. Students will begin Journal Entry #38 today with the vocab word Copyright. We will look at how to properly give someone credit for their work, and also the different types of creative commons licenses. Students will also watch the video located there on Creative Commons.  Today students will log into their Code.org website and begin on Lesson 9, Bubble 1. This is where we will begin to add images to our websites and learn the correct way to code these images. Students will take down vocabulary words today in their journals for Journal Entry #38: new code for image, attribute, src (source), and alt (attribute). After completing the directions in bubble 1, students will move to Bubble #2 where they will add the word attribution to their vocabulary list also.  Students will then continue to work through bubbles 4, 5, and 6 to work on adding photos correctly and correcting image names and code.  Students will also be given the worksheet on creative commons today. 
Thursday: No assignments today as the students will be taking the State Writing Assessment. 
Friday: Students will work in Bubble 6 where they will complete bubbles A-F to practice more with images and adding pictures correctly.  Students will continue to work in bubbles 7 and 8 to complete all the assessments and challenges listed there.  They will learn about height and weight distributions for images, how to make an illustrated story, and how to make a how- to guide.

Week 6, 4th Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing our lessons on Code.org and learning beginner code and how to write HTML.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
 
Monday: Students will watch a short video today from the Leader in Me series about Habit #6 Synergize! Students will watch a short 1 minute video at https://www.leaderinme.com/resources/habit-6-synergy on the importance of working together to achieve a higher standard than if one were to work alone.  After the video students will complete Journal Entry #36.  Students will then answer the following prompt: How do you as 7th graders synergize in your everyday activities to help achieve more success?  What are the advantages to this and the disadvantages?  Students are to write a one paragraph response to the prompt.  Students will spend the remainder of the class period today working on their ISP tools sent in the Cohort Google Classroom by Mrs. Gibbs. Students will also be given a worksheet to complete, Bird of Prey and The Continental Shelf. Many of the students have completed the Cohort assignments. This worksheet will be homework if not completed in class. 
 
Tuesday: Students will pick up in Code.org with Lesson 6, Bubble 11 where they will complete Journal Entry #37 today by taking down the following vocab words: font-family, text decoration, text align, letter spacing, and text shadow. These words will be on the next Code vocab test! Students will then go to Lesson 7, Bubble 1 where they will complete bubbles a through e to review css rules and how to apply them. On Bubble 2, students will complete bubbles a and b to see the RGB color wheel and how to change and manipulate colors. 

If the students complete bubbles a and b they will then go to Bubble 3 where they will spend the rest of the time working on their own personal website.  Students will be given a list of requirements for their websites including at least 2 different sized headings, 4 paragraphs of content, 1 list with at least 3 list items. Now students will be required to add a background color, 2 different colored headings, 3 different fonts, at least 1 text decoration, 1 text shadowing, 1 letter spacing, and 2 different text alignments. Students will also be given a homework worksheet, The Road Not Taken, Context Clues, and David Copperfield. 

Wednesday: Students will continue to work on their personal websites today on the Code.org website. Students will continue to add content and meet the requirements for their websites as the teacher gives feedback and corrections for code and content of webpages.

Thursday: No assignments today as the students will be taking the State Math Assessment. 

Friday: Students will log back into Code.org today and continue working on their personal websites. Students will ensure that their webpages have 1. Content, 2. Structure, and 3. Style. If students complete their webpages, and have been checked by the teacher to ensure that all components are present, they may use the remainder of the class period to Edutype or Nitrotype.

Week 5, 4th Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing our lessons on Code.org.  This week students will be learning how to implement style into thier webpages, as well as coding paragraphs, headings, etc.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: No school!  Happy Easter!!
Tuesday: Today students will take a few minutes to explore giving and following directions.  One student will be given a sheet of paper with a very specific picture on it and try to explain to another student what to draw to match the sheet of paper.  Students soon realize how important it is to be very specific with their instructions, such as when giving a computer instructions to make a website with code. Students will pick up today with Lesson 6, Bubble 1 and and look at some of the new styling techniques that we will use to make our websites more attractive and appealing to others. Students will then go to Lesson 6, Bubble 2 and look at how to change the style of a website with the style.css tab. On Bubble 3 students will watch a short video on the introduction of CSS Students will then complete Journal Entry #35. Students will answer the prompt: How is the style of a web page different from the structure? Why might you want your web page to have a certain style? Students will answer the prompt with a one paragraph reply, as well as take down the definition for CSS and CSS selector. Students will be given worksheets to complete for homework, The Prince and the Pauper and Jabberwocky. 
Wednesday:  Students will begin today on Lesson 6 Bubble 4. They will add the vocab word style sheets to their journal #35 from yesterday as we begin talking about how to style the page in Bubble 3. In Bubble 5 students will take down the definition for a rule set (a set of rules to specify a style for the selected element), rules, selector, property, and value. They will then complete the bubble by following the directions. On Bubble 6, students will add pixel’s definition and abbreviation to their journal also. They will then work through bubble 6 completing all instructions on the page. Students will be given back their vocabulary matching worksheets to study for a vocab test tomorrow. Students will then be given a homework worksheet to complete for homework, The Count of Monte Cristo and Local Children’s Reactions to 911 Tragedy.
Thursday: Students will take a 5:00 timed typing assessment today on Social Media Today with a goal of 34 WPM and an accuracy level of 90% or better.  Students will also take a vocabulary test today on all the vocab terms and important code learned this far. Students will then log in to Code.org and watch the video located in Bubble 7: Intro to CSS, Part 2. Students will learn how to link their style sheet from their webpage. Students will then continue with bubbles 8 through 11 to practice linking their style to their webpage. Students will be given a homework packet, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Don’t Blame the Rats for Spreading the Black Death.
Friday: Students will be given a few minutes to complete any bubbles that were not completed yesterday in class in Lesson 6, Bubbles 8 through 11. Students will then go to Lesson 7 and complete Bubble 1 where they will review CSS and style rules. After completing the review, students will go to Bubble 2 where we will begin to look at the RGB Colors and how to code colors for various things inside a website.

Week 4, 4th Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing with our unit on Coding.  We have started a few vocabulary and beginner tags for coding and will continue to get deeper in how to write code and speak HTML. Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday:  Students will watch a short video today from the Leader in Me series about Habit #5 Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood! Students will watch a short 4 minute video at Leader in Me on the importance of being understood.  After the video students will complete Journal Entry #32.  Students will then answer the following prompt: What are the 5 steps of being understood?  Why are they important?  Do you follow these steps?  What can you do to implement these steps into your life?  Students will spend the remainder of the class period today working on their ISP tools sent in the Cohort Google Classroom by Mrs. Gibbs.
Tuesday:  Students will pick up today with Lesson 2, Bubble 6 and complete the directions before going to bubble 7 and completing the directions there. Students will then go to Lesson 3, Bubble 1 and watch the video on pair programming. Students will then take out their journals and complete the journal entry #33. Students will first answer the prompt: What are the advantages and disadvantages of pair programming?  Then the class will click on bubble 2 and take down the following vocabulary in their journals: bug, debugging, and headings, as well as take down the new code for headings 1 through 6, a line break <br>, and also an unordered list <ul>, ordered list <ol>, and list items <li>. Students will then travel to Bubble 3 where they will read about headings more and complete the activity underneath.  If time allows students will also complete bubbles 4 and 5 on Lesson 3. Students will be given worksheets to complete for homework, Anne of Avonlea and the poem The Rose That Grew From Concrete. 
Wednesday: Students will log in today to Lesson 3, bubble 6 and watch the video there on debugging. They will continue to bubble 7 where they will complete activities a through d, bubble 8, and bubble 9 where they will complete activities a through f. Students will continue to Lesson 4, Bubble 1 and complete the review of HTML there as they work lessons a through f. They will then go to Bubble 2 and complete the ordered and unordered lists there. Students will then be given a homework worksheet to complete for homework, Oliver Twist summary and Bird of Prey.  
Thursday: Today students will work on Lesson 4 Bubble 3 where they will start their own personal webpage. Students will be required to have at least 2 different headings of 2 different sizes, 3 paragraphs of information, and a list (ordered or unordered) containing information that they choose to put on a website. Once the students have input all of the code and the content for their page they will move to bubble 4 to check over the website. Students will then be given a vocabulary worksheet containing all the code and terms covered so far in code.org. This will be for homework if not completed in class.

Week 3, 4th Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be finishing up our unit on Personal Financial Literacy with a unit test on Wednesday, as well as a timed typing test on Wednesday.  After completing these lessons, we will begin our final unit of the year, Coding!! Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will watch a short video today from the Leader in Me series about Habit #5 Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood! Students will watch a short 4 minute video at Leader in Me on the importance of listening and being a good listener.  After the video students will complete Journal Entry #30.  Students will then answer the questions following the video. Students will then write a 1 paragraph response to the questions to complete the journal for today. Students will spend the remainder of the class period today working on their ISP tools sent in the Cohort Google Classroom by Mrs. Gibbs.
Tuesday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 3: Using Credit, Lesson 2: Borrowing Money where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Creating Kelly’s Budget, where students will be given a pay scale for Kelly and have to budget to pay all her bills to see if she is living above her means. 
Wednesday: Students will have a timed typing assessment today with a goal of 33 words per minute and an accuracy level of 90% or higher on a 5 minute typing assessment, Passport to the World. Students will also take a final assessment today on the Personal Financial Literacy Module. Students will be allowed to use their notes from the videos for this particular test. If the students complete both of their tests with time still left in the class period, they will be given a homework sheet (that may be completed at the end of the class period. Homework will be a Grand Canyon worksheet of word meaning, as well as an article entitled Black Beauty with questions to be answered. 
Thursday: Students will log onto the Code.org site today through Clever and begin Unit 2: Web Development, Lesson 1, Bubble 1.  The class will look at and discuss the purpose of websites.  We will then look at the sample websites listed on the page to see the variety of reasons that someone may create a website. Students will then continue on to Unit 2: Lesson 2: Intro to HTML. On Bubble 1, students will be introduced to the workspace, files, and preview sections of the lab. Then if time allows we will move to bubble 2 and watch the introduction video located there. Students will then be given a homework paper for ELA support on analyzing text (Susan B Anthony), viewpoints of a passage (Attack on Pearl Harbor), and a Common Lit Article, “Alaska Accelerates Indoor Agriculture.”
Friday:  Today students will go back to the Code.org website and resume Bubble 2 and watch the Introduction video located there. They will then go to Bubble 3 and play around with the HTML and learn about the inspector tool. In Bubble 4 we will watch another video on the Intro to Web Lab part 2. Students will then take out their journals and take down the 3 vocabulary words HTML, HTML tags, and HTML element for Journal Entry #31.  Students will also be introduced to their first tags that will be put in their journals, <!DOCTYPE>, <html>, <head>, <p> and <body> Students will also learn the difference between opening and closing tags. Students will then continue to bubbles 6 and 7 and complete the challenge to conclude Lesson 2.

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing with our unit on Personal Financial Literacy.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #29 today after watching a short video located at the Leader In Me website on Habit #5: Levels of Listening. Students will answer the prompt for the journal and write a 1 paragraph response.  After completing the journal entry students will work on their Cohort assignments sent by Ms. Gibbs. 
Tuesday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 2: Managing Your Money, Lesson 3: Budgeting where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Reading a Bank Statement, where students will be given a sample bank statement and have to calculate the balances to answer the questions on the back of the worksheet. 
Wednesday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 2: Managing Your Money, Lesson 4: Informed Purchases where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Commonly Confused Words.
Thursday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 3: Using Credit, Lesson 1: Consumer Credit where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, What Does Your Statement Tell You?? Where the students will look at a credit card statement and answer questions pertaining to it.
Friday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 3: Using Credit, Lesson 2: Borrowing Money where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. This week in Cyber Foundations we will be moving on from spreadsheets and turning our focus towards Personal Financial Literacy.  Homework and assignments for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #28 today by watching a short video from the Leader in Me series about Habit #4 Think Win-Win! Students will watch a short 2 minute video at Leader in Me on the importance of understanding the concept of win-win. After the video students will complete Journal Entry #28.  Students will then answer the 3 questions following the video. After completing the Journal Entry students will continue to work on their Cohort assignments sent by Ms. Gibbs.
Tuesday: Students will log into the AES Education website and begin the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will begin Unit 1: Earning Income, Lesson 1: Earning Potential where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Understanding the author's language and Citing the Sources.
Wednesday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 1: Earning Income, Lesson 2: Types of Income  where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Summarizing and Drawing a Conclusion.
Thursday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 2: Managing Your Money, Lesson 1: Reading a Pay Stub  where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video.  After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Word Meanings and Inference Practice.
Friday: Students will log into the AES Education website and continue the Module for Personal Financial Literacy. Students will log into Unit 2: Managing Your Money, Lesson 2: Introduction to Banking where they will watch the video located in the AES module and complete the worksheet that accompanies the video. After completing the worksheet, students will take the quiz for this unit located on the AES module. Students may use their worksheets to help them answer questions for this quiz. After the students complete the video, worksheet and quiz, they will receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Reading a Bank Statement, where students will be given a sample bank statement and have to calculate the balances to answer the questions on the back of the worksheet.

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing our lessons on Google Sheets.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows: 
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #26 today as they watch a video from the Leader in Me Website and complete a journal writing. They will then work on the 2027 Cohort assignments sent by Ms. Gibbs for graduation requirements.
Tuesday: Students will work on their AES website where they will complete the Google Sheets Module 2: Fundamentals, Unit 2: Data Management and Analysis, Lesson 1: Sorting a Membership List. After completing the worksheet and the attachment spreadsheet for this lesson, students will work on their Edutyping Google Sheets Lesson 13: Commonly Used Formulas. 
Wednesday: Students will work on their AES website where they will complete the Google Sheets Module 2: Fundamentals, Unit 2: Data Management and Analysis, Lesson 2: Filtering an Employee List. After completing the worksheet and the attachment spreadsheet for this lesson, students will work on their Edutyping Google Sheets Lesson 14: Working with Conditions. 
Thursday: Students will work on their AES website where they will complete the Google Sheets Module 2: Fundamentals, Unit 3: Formatting in Google Sheets, Lesson 1: Overdue Library Books. After completing the worksheet and the attachment spreadsheet for this lesson, students will work on their Edutyping Google Sheets Lesson 15: Working with Illustrations.
Friday: Students will work on their AES website where they will complete the Google Sheets Module 2: Fundamentals, Unit 3:Formatting in Google Sheets, Lesson 2: Make it Look Great. After completing the worksheet and the attachment spreadsheet for this lesson, students will work on their Edutyping Google Sheets Lesson 16: Creating a Pie Chart.

Week 6, 3rd Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will continue our lessons on spreadsheets using Google Sheets. This week we will focus our attention mainly on the AES Lessons in Google Sheets 2: Fundamentals.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #25 after watching a video on beginning with the end in mind. Students will then continue to work on their 2027 Cohort activities sent by the counselor, Ms. Gibbs concerning high school credits and graduation requirements. 
Tuesday: Students will log into their AES Education website and begin on Google Sheets 2: Fundamentals, Unit 1: Using Formulas and Functions, Lesson 1: A Pancake Recipe.  Students will watch the video and complete the worksheet as well as open an attachment spreadsheet and complete the directions assigned in the video to share with Ms. Thompson for grading. After completing the worksheet and the spreadsheet, students will complete Lesson 11 and 12 Edutyping Google Sheets lessons and share them with Ms. Thompson also.  
Wednesday: Students will log into their AES Education website and begin on Google Sheets 2: Fundamentals, Unit 1: Using Formulas and Functions, Lesson 2: A Pancake Recipe (part 2).  Students will watch the video and complete the worksheet as well as open an attachment spreadsheet and complete the directions assigned in the video to share with Ms. Thompson for grading. After completing the worksheet and the spreadsheet, students will complete Lesson 12 and 13 Edutyping Google Sheets lessons and share them with Ms. Thompson also.  
Thursday: Students will log into their AES Education website and begin on Google Sheets 2: Fundamentals, Unit 1: Using Formulas and Functions, Lesson 3: Coffee Shop Inventory.  Students will watch the video and complete the worksheet as well as open an attachment spreadsheet and complete the directions assigned in the video to share with Ms. Thompson for grading. After completing the worksheet and the spreadsheet, students will complete Lesson 13 and 14 Edutyping Google Sheets lessons and share them with Ms. Thompson also.  
Friday: Students will log into their AES Education website and begin on Google Sheets 2: Fundamentals, Unit 2: Data Management and Analysis, Lesson 1: Sorting a Membership List.  Students will watch the video and complete the worksheet as well as open an attachment spreadsheet and complete the directions assigned in the video to share with Ms. Thompson for grading. This week in Cyber Foundations we will be finishing up Unit 1 on spreadsheets and preparing for a test on Thursday.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #24 today on what is important to them.  They will then work on their Cohort assignments sent by Ms. Gibbs, the guidance counselor. 
Tuesday: Students will log in today to their AES Education website where they will continue with the Google Sheets 1: Essentials, Unit 2: Basic Formulas and Functions, Lesson 4: Introduction to Functions.  Students will complete the worksheet for this lesson, as well as complete the spreadsheet attachment found within this lesson. Students will then work on their Edutyping Lesson 10: Formatting Currency and Percent and share it with Ms. Thompson.
Wednesday: Students will review today for a unit test on Spreadsheets on the AES material covered for Google Sheets 1. After the review, students will work on Edutyping Lesson 11: Sorting Data. 
Thursday: Students will take a test today on Google Sheets 1: Essentials and also have a timed typing test.  After the test, students may continue to work on their Edutyping Lessons: 10 and 11.
Friday: Benchmark Party for those that met their goals and grew in the ELA and Math benchmarks.  Those that did not grow will be given assignments to complete.

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing our lessons on Google Sheets and spreadsheets.  Students will be working on activities and lessons in class to prepare them for their final assessment and unit test. Homework and assignments for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #23 today after watching a short video on looking toward the future (from the Leader in Me Habits). After completing their journal, students will work on their 2027 Cohort sent by Ms. Alissa Gibbs. 
Tuesday: Today students will work on their AES Education website in the Google Sheets 1: Essentials, Unit 2: Basic Formulas and Functions: Lesson 2: Cell References module. Students will complete the worksheet that accompanies this lesson, as well as complete the spreadsheet attachment found in the AES video and share it with Ms. Thompson for grading. Then they will work on the clipboard activities, Edutyping GS Lesson 7 and 8 and also share those with Ms. Thompson. 
Wednesday:  Today students will work on their AES Education website in the Google Sheets 1: Essentials, Unit 2: Basic Formulas and Functions: Lesson 3: Complex Formulas module. Students will complete the worksheet that accompanies this lesson, as well as complete the spreadsheet attachment found in the AES video and share it with Ms. Thompson for grading. Students will create a spreadsheet per the instructions in the video and share with Ms. Thompson. Students will then complete the Edutyping Lesson 3: Editing Basics and share with Ms. Thompson. 
Wednesday: Students will be taking the ELA Benchmark Test today. Any classes that meet will spend time Edutyping, and making sure they are caught up through Lessons 3 on AES and Edutyping Google Sheets Activities. 
Thursday: Students will be working on the AES website in Google Sheets 1: Lesson 4: Formatting Cells. Students will create a spreadsheet per the instructions in the video and share with Ms. Thompson. Students will then complete the Edutyping Lesson 4: Retrieving and Proofing Your Worksheet and share with Ms. Thompson. Students will also have a vocabulary test and a timed typing test tomorrow!
Friday: Students will take a timed typing test today, as well as a vocabulary test on their Google Sheets Vocabulary. This week in Cyber Foundations we will be finishing up out unit on Google Docs, finally!!  We have spent lots of time in Google Docs and I feel like the students have learned so many new things about this word processing. Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Lessons 1: Introduction to Style Guides and Lesson 2: Formatting a Document Using MLA in the AES Google Docs 2: Fundamentals Module under Unit 3: Completing a Report Using MLA.  After the students complete the worksheets for these lessons, they will work on the Edutyping Word Processing Lessons 11, 12, and 13. 
Tuesday: Students will complete Lessons 3:Adding In Test Citations and Lesson 4: Formatting a Document Using MLA in the AES Google Docs 2: Fundamentals Module under Unit 3: Completing a Report Using MLA.  After the students complete the worksheets for these lessons, they will continue work on the Edutyping Word Processing Lessons 12, 13, and 14.
Wednesday: Students will review for a an AES Google Docs Test 2 that will be on Friday.  This test will cover all units in Google Docs 2: Fundamentals. Students will then continue to work on the Edutyping Word Processing lessons 12, 13, 14, and 15. 
Thursday: Students will work on the Edutyping Word Processing Lessons up through 15......  Study for a unit test tomorrow!!!
Friday: Students will complete a timed typing test today and take thier final unit test, Google Docs Test 2. Today is also the last day to turn in the Edutyping Word Processing lessons up through 15.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday with lots of food, family, and joy last week.  This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing our lessons on Google Docs and hopefully completing this unit by Christmas break!.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows: 
Monday: Students will work in the AES modules today and complete Google Docs 2: Fundamentals Lesson 1: Top 10 List.  They will also complete a Top 10 List and share for grading.  After the students complete the worksheet for this module and their list, they will work on their Edutyping Word Processing Lesson 11. 
Tuesday: Students will work on completing Lesson 11 if they did not complete it yesterday.  Then they will begin to work on Lesson 2: Make a Quiz.  Students will complete the worksheet for this lesson and make a quiz to submit. After the students complete the worksheet for this module and their list, they will work on their Edutyping Word Processing Lesson 12.
Wednesday: Students will continue to work on completing Lesson 12 if they did not complete it yesterday.  Then they will work on Lesson : Create an Invitation. Students will complete the worksheet for this lesson and create an invitation to submit.  After the students complete the worksheet for this module and their list, they will work on their Edutyping Word Processing Lesson 13.
Thursday: Students will continue to work on completing Lesson 13 if they did not complete it yesterday. Then they will work on Lesson 1: Organizing with Tables. This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing to work in AES Education with our Module on Google Docs.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Unit 1: Introduction, Lesson 3: Formatting Text video and complete the worksheets for this lesson.  They will also complete the activity  within that lesson where they will edit  a class flyer.  
Tuesday: Students will complete the Edutyping Activity 1: Create Your First Document using Google Docs and submit using Canvas. Students will also complete Journal Entry #19, receive a list of vocabulary for Google Docs, and complete Edutyping Activity 2: Formatting Test.
Wednesday: Students will begin today with the next lesson in AES Education, Unit 2: Editing and Review Tools, Lesson 1: Cut, Copy, and Paste Tools and complete the worksheet for this lesson. Students will also complete the activity, Choosing a Family Dog. If the students complete lesson 1, they will continue to Lesson 2: Find and Replace Tools and complete the worksheet for this lesson also. They will also complete another activity using the Choosing a Family Dog activity.  Students will also be given vocabulary matching worksheet to complete for homework and to review the words for a vocab test on Friday. 
Thursday: Students will complete Journal Entry #20 today. They will then complete Edutyping  Lesson 3: Working with Bookmarks and Lesson 4: Proofing Your Document.  Students will complete these Lessons using Google Docs and submit using Canvas. 
Friday: Students will have a Timed typing Test today with a WPM goal of 26 and also have a vocab test today on the Google Docs Vocabulary.  After the tests, students will be allowed time to go back and complete any lessons or activities from the week that need to be completed.

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be beginning a new unit on word processing and how to use these applications on a day to day basis.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows: 
Monday: Students will log into the AES Website and begin the module, Getting Started with Google Applications.  Students will navigate through Unit 1: Introduction and complete lessons 1 and 2 on Google Apps Tour and Google Drive. 
Tuesday: Students will pick up where they left off yesterday in the Getting Started with Google Applications module and complete Unit 1: Introduction with lessons 3 and 4, User Interface and Getting Help. Students will also complete Journal Entry #18 today. Students will then have a Readworks article, Presidents Come Alive to work on as they complete the lessons in AES and to finish for homework.
Wednesday: Students will log into AES today and begin the Module on Google Docs 1: Essentials. Students should complete Lesson 1: Google Docs Tour today and complete the worksheet for it in class.
Thursday: Students will pick up with Lesson 2: Working With Text today in the Google Docs 1: Essentials Module. Students will not only have a video and a worksheet to complete, but they will also edit a questionnaire on Google Docs to turn in for a grade. 
Friday: Students that have shown growth in both Math and ELA will have a reward day today! Students who have not shown this growth on their Benchmark tests will be working on Reading and Math skills today in their Moby Max.

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be continuing our lesson on Digital Citizenship.  Students will be finishing up the lessons and preparing for a test on Friday. Assignments and homework for the week are as follows: 
Monday: Students will complete unit 3: Online Safety, Lesson 1: Digital Footprint. A worksheet will be given to accompany the video located at AES Education.  Students must complete this worksheet in class or complete for homework.  
Tuesday: Students will complete the Unit 3: Online Safety, Lesson 2: Protecting Yourself Online module today using the AES Website.  Students must complete the worksheet given in class today or finish it for homework. Students will also have a Journal Entry today, Journal 17.
Wednesday: Students will begin a review of the worksheets and units covered in AES Education to prepare for a test on Friday covering all 3 unites.  Worksheets will be gone over to ensure that all students have the correct answers to study for Friday's test. 
Thursday: Students will continue to review and prepare for the Unit test on Friday.
Friday: Students will take a Unit test today on Digital Citizenship.  They will also have the first timed typing test of the nine weeks today, Lessons 13-18, a 1:00 minute timed test with a WPM goal of 24 and an accuracy goal of 100%. They students will have an article to read and answer questions about, Designing From Scratch.

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a fabulous Fall Break and enjoyed a few days of rest and fun.  This week in Cyber Foundations we will be looking at our last units on Digital Citizenship and Digital Responsibility.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will log into AES Education and join the section for our class.  They will then proceed to the videos under Digital Citizenship, Digital Literacy, and Lesson 1: Our Digital World. Students will watch the video and complete the worksheet given in class.  If not finished in class, students will need to complete for homework. 
Tuesday: Students will complete Journal Entry #14 today. They will then log back into AES and continue with Lesson 2: Ethical Use of Digital Resources and complete the worksheet given in class. Students will also be given a code of conduct to read and sign today. 
Wednesday: Students will complete Journal Entry #15 today. They will log back into AES and continue with Digital Citizenship, Digital Communication, Lesson 1: Personal Digital Communication and complete the worksheet given in class today.
Thursday: Students will complete Journal Entry #16 today. They will log back in to AES and continue with Lesson 2: Workplace Digital Communication and complete the worksheet given in class today. Students will also receive a worksheet to complete for homework, Digital Citizenship Scenarios. 
Friday: Students will log back in to AES today and watch the video for Lesson 3: Cyberbullying and complete the worksheet given in class today.  Any of the worksheets not completed in class will need to be completed for homework that night.

Week 7, 1st Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be finishing up our unit on the Problem Solving Process and what makes a computer a computer.  Assignments for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #13 today, as well as receive their packets for their App Project. Students will develop an App that will attempt to solve a real world problem. Each app will contain an input, output, type of processing, and storage page. Students will spend the week working on these apps, including completing the project guide completely, making a poster (at home) for thier presentations on Thursday and Friday, and present a 2:00 minute presentation detailing how thier app works and how it will help solve this real world problem.  
Tuesday and Wednesday: Students will work in class to perfect their apps, as well as complete the entire project guide. The posters will need to be made at home.
Thursday and Friday: Students will give 2:00 minute presentations on their apps and posters. All other students must keep a written journal of each students app name, problem being solved, and short description of how that person plans to solve the problem.

Week 6, 1st Nine Weeks

This week in Cyber Foundations we will be focusing on the inputs and outputs of a computer.  We will spend time this week every day practicing the ABCYA Keyboard Challenge to prepare the students for a test grade on this activity on Friday.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows: 
Monday: Students will complete Journal Entry #10 today. Students will then spend time in Code.org working on the inputs required to make an app work correctly. Students will work in Code.org and have a worksheet to complete in class.  If not finished in class, they will complete for homework.  
Tuesday: Students will have 2 articles today to read and answer comprehension questions about, Crash Test and A Special Delivery. When the students complete these articles, they may practice the ABCYA challenge for the test on Friday. 
Wednesday: Students will complete Journal Entry #11 today. Students will focus on the processing part of computing today and the different types of processing.  In Code.org, students will complete Lesson 6 and the worksheet given in class accompanying this lesson, Apps With Processing. 
Thursday: Students will complete Journal Entry #12 today as they continue to work on how computers work.  Students will go to Code.org and complete Lesson 7 today on the storage of computers.  Students will be placed in pairs to complete an activity guide for this lesson.  If this activity is not completed in class, it will be completed for homework.
Friday: Students will complete the ABCYA Keyboard Challenge today for a test grade. Students will complete Journal Entry #13 today also. Then students will log into Code.org and work in Lesson 8 to begin their project of Designing their own App.  Students will be given an activity guide to complete for this project and design an app that will solve a real world problem. Students will make a poster and do a small 1-2 minute presentation for this assignment next week.

This week in Cyber Foundations students will be finishing up the Problem Solving Process and test at the end of the week.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: No school!  Happy Labor Day!!
Tuesday: Students are building aluminum foil boats today and testing them in water using the Problem Solving Process. 
Wednesday: Students may use a few minutes at the beginning of class to complete the aluminum foil boat challenge if needed.  Students will then be given an article to read in class and complete the questions on for a daily grade. They will then either practice their Edutyping or the Keyboard Challenge.  
Thursday: Students will complete Journal Entry #9, recieve new notes on input and output of a completer and review for a test on Friday.  
Friday: Timed typing test and test on being aware of what you share, notes given in class, and what is a computer.

I hope this week finds everyone safe and healthy from Hurricane Ida this weekend! This week in Cyber Foundations we will be talking about Being Aware of What you Share and spend some time talking about the Problem Solving Process. Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Hurricane Ida kept us at home for an extra day!
Tuesday: Students will spend the day working on their edutyping and practicing putting their keyboards together in ABCYA.
Wednesday: Students will take down new vocab for Being Aware of What You Share in Journal Entry #8 and complete the Ad Detective worksheet in class.  For homework, students will be given the History of Social Media and the History of Cell Phones worksheets.
Thursday: Students will log into Code.org and begin the Problem Solving Process.  Students will have an activity guide to complete as a class and discuss the process. Students will receive a packet on problem solving to complete over the next few days.  Students must complete the planning a birthday party sheet for homework. 
Friday: Students will be placed in groups today to complete the word search or the redesign a Classroom activity. Students will then complete the final page of the packet on the problem solving process.

This week in Cyber Foundations we are continuing on with our discussions on Digital Citizenship, as well as working on our typing and parts of the computer.  Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday: Students will work in groups today to complete the Truth Be Told worksheet.  If not finished in class, students will complete this paper for homework.
Tuesday: Students will take notes today in class on the proper body posture while typing, as well as color code a keyboard according to finger placement.  If not completed in class, students will need to complete for homework.
Wednesday: Students will work today on a matching worksheet for all the vocabulary that will be on their test tomorrow. Students will then spend time on the ABCYA keyboard challenge to assist them with learning the keys of the keyboard. Test tomorrow!!!  Study study study!!
Thursday: Students will take a timed typing test today with goal of 20 words per minute. Students will also take a test today on their vocabulary for the week, the parts of the computer, digital citizenship, and also fill out a blank keyboard.
Friday: Students will discuss today Being Aware of What you Share with online privacy and using social media.  Students will have vocabulary and a worksheet to complete, Ad Detective.  Students will also have the worksheets, History of Social Media and History of Cell Phones for classwork/homework.

Its Week 2!  I hope everyone is settling in to the new year and things are becoming more routine and running smoothly.  This week in Cyber Foundations we are continuing to look at digital citizenship, as well as learning the parts of the computer and concentrating on our typing skills. Assignments and homework for the week are as follows:
Monday and Tuesday: Review days from last week when the teacher was out due to unforeseen circumstances!  We will be going back through all lessons and activities from last week to ensure that students have all vocab and lessons completed for a test this week.
Wednesday: Students will take a short computer safety quiz today. Students will also have a matching activity to prepare them for a vocab test tomorrow!  Study, study study!!
Thursday: Students will have their first timed typing test today.  There will be no set words per minute for this first test.  Students will also have a vocabulary test today on cyberbullying, phishing, and computer parts.  
Friday: Students will receive new vocab words today for the parts of the computer.  We will also discuss what a digital footprint is.

This will be homework if not completed in class today. Students will also be given a tutorial on how to use Canvas and find assignments. If time allows, students will also be introduced to Edutyping.
Tuesday: Today students will discuss how much experience they have with computers and if they have access to computers on a daily basis. Students will be placed into groups of 2 to 3 students. They will then be given a reading passage entitled “Ancient Computers.” Students will then answer the questions on the worksheet about how our lives would be different without computers, smart phones, or the Internet.  We will discuss orally when the students complete this activity.
Wednesday: Today students will discuss phishing and how it applies to digital citizenship. Students will take down vocab words and go through a slideshow on how phishing works through class discussion and answering questions. Students will receive homework activity - How to Catch a Phish.
Thursday: Today students will take more vocab words in their notes. Students will also take a short safety quiz for computer safety to keep on file for the year.
Friday: Today the students will discuss what cyberbullying is and why it occurs as well as take down the vocab words for this section. Students will go through the slide show as a class and discuss reasons for bullying, how to respond, ways to be an upstander, etc. Students will be given an activity sheet - Sondra’s Story to complete at the end of the class or finish for homework.
